Music from Iraq

Najem is one of the very greatest Iraqi masters of the qanun, a type of harp with 81 strings. When the situation in his homeland became unstable, he first moved to Tunisia and later on to Belgium. Driessens is a Belgian born ûd player and musicologist. He is regarded as one of the finest performers of the ûd in Belgium, creating a style entirely of his own.
