Dutch employees are usually obliged to contribute to a pension fund. Pension boards take decisions on financial matters (for example, how much risk is taken), but to an increasing extent also on ethical issues (for example, the exclusion of fossil industries) and sustainability (for example, biodiversity). How can pension participants get involved in this sort of decision? Rob Bauer gives examples of pension funds that are taking an innovative approach to this question.
